PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The General Arts and Science – Technology program is one of a kind in Ontario. In this program, students can take courses and explore career paths in Engineering, IT and/or the Trades while connecting with many experts to explore career options in this high-demand career sector. Specifically, you will explore career options guided by expert faculty while taking courses that you can transfer in order to reduce your course load in a future academic program. Additionally, the program will provide you with the opportunity to strengthen your math and writing skills while also exploring computer networking, digital electronics, engineering, graphics and many other options.

This program is for you if you are interested in:

  •  building a strong foundation for future study in applied technology
  • discovering the many career options available in technology, IT, engineering and/or the trades
  • learning new digital fluency skills every employer and job requires
  • strengthening your math and communication skills

REGISTRATION DETAILS

  • 2 semesters
  • January and September start dates at the North campus
  • Customized delivery - students create their own schedule of courses from among in-person, hybrid and online options; students may be able to create a fully online schedule

Fees and Financial Aid

The 2024/2025 fee for two semesters is:

Domestic: $3,985.24
International: $17,589.38

How to Apply

Applications to Humber are made through ontariocolleges.ca. Be sure to submit your application by the equal consideration deadline of February 1. You may apply after February 1, however, post-February 1 applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis depending on the availability of the space in the program.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Admission selection is based on the following three requirements:

1. Academic
To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
    • Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)

Post-admission testing in writing and basic mathematics is required. Applicants may be counselled into an alternative choice based on test results. While the General Arts and Science programs have been designed to prepare students to enter a major course of study in their chosen area, a General Arts and Science certificate or diploma is neither a guarantee, nor a requirement for entry into subsequent programs at Humber or elsewhere.

2. English Language Proficiency
All applicants whose first language is not English must meet Humber’s English Language Proficiency Policy.

3. International Credit Evaluation
Canadian citizens or permanent residents with international education are required to provide a credential evaluation. Note, for international High school education course by course evaluations, ICAS must be used. For international post-secondary education, a WES evaluation must be provided. In situations where you expect to apply for transfer credit, it is recommended that a course by course WES evaluation is completed.
