PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program is a certificate program for students who use English as a second or additional language, and who wish to improve their English language skills to advance their education.
The program emphasizes:
- speaking, listening
- effective writing
- reading comprehension
- college study skills
Students are placed in one of our three levels - Basic, Intermediate, or Pre-College. Students are placed according to a free language diagnostic test. Students who successfully complete at least two levels, including Level 3 in the EAP Program, receive a college certificate. Students in Level 3 who get B grades in their reading, writing and speaking classes have automatic entry into the college COMM 161 English course.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, or mature student status (19 years of age or older)
All students must complete a specialized English assessment test to determine EAP Program placement

This is is not a program for absolute beginners
International students require the following minimum scores for admission:
- CLB - 4
- IELTS: 3.5-4.0
- TOEFL: 397-433
- ibTOEFL: 30-40
- iTEP: 3.5-3.6
- Pearson TE (Academic): 36-40
- Cambridge Exams: Preliminary English Test pass
