PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The English Language Learning Program is an intensive, 2 yr. 5 semester, 5 level, full –time program for students who speak English as a second language. This program can help build English Language skills for success in college, university, or careers.
The English Language Learning (ELL) Program is based on modern teaching and learning practices. Our Faculty members are qualified, dedicated ESL teaching professionals who provide instruction plus support, encouragement, and guidance.
- You are with instructors for approximately 375 hours per semester
- You can join the program every 3 weeks as there is a continuous intake
- Each new intake is a separate language module
- Diagnostic placement tests ensure correct language level placement
- You have regular diagnostic appraisals to measure class progress
Program levels:
- Level One - Elementary
- Level Two - Beginner
- Level Three - Low Intermediate
- Level Four - Intermediate
- Level Five - High Intermediate
You'll be placed into one of the five levels depending on the results of a diagnostic placement test that will ensure you are in the correct language level.
Each level consists of five "modules" with each "module" running for three weeks.
You can start the program at the beginning of any module, depending on your date of arrival.
One of the goals of the English Language Learning Program is to provide a tailored learning experience for each student based on each individual's separate skill levels. Recommendations for admission to the program are based on the results of a diagnostic placement test and ensure correct placement in the ELL Program.

This program is only open for admission to applicants who have been advised and assisted to register by the Centennial College Advising Centre. Applicants cannot apply directly to ontariocolleges.ca for admission to this program.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Students applying for admission to certificate or diploma programs must present at minimum an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent or be 19 years of age or older. Meeting minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.
The ELL placement test takes two hours and includes a listening/grammar/reading/vocabulary test and a 30 minute writing assignment. ELL students attend classes five days a week for intensive study in all areas of English Language Communication.
