PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

York University's Bridging Program for Internationally Educated Professionals (IEPs) is a certificate program to assist IEPs transition into a role that matches their education, credentials and work experience. It helps IEPs position themselves for a career that matches their professional qualifications.

This program offers professional certificates in Canadian Business (Areas of Specialization: Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, and Public Administration) and Information Technology (Areas of Specialization: Enterprise Systems, System Analysis, and Big Data & Data Analytics). The program has flexible schedules with courses offered during weekends and evenings, networking with peers and industry insiders to support your job search, and free language training to support your goals and needs.

Fees

The Certificate program course fees are currently paid in three installments over the 16-month period and only beginning five months after the start of the program. You should budget approximately $4,400 to cover your course fees if you are unable to get a bursary (see link below).

IEP Students can also apply for micro-credit loans designed for Immigrants and Refugees returning to education through the Windmill Microlending or Achev.

Step One
Complete the IEP Certificate Program supplementary application and upload supporting eligibility documents.

Step Two
Apply using the York University undergraduate application form as a student in the Spring/Summer 2023 Term, in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, Certificate in Canadian Business or Information Technology for Internationally Educated Professionals.

Step Three
Submit transcripts and proof of degrees to the Office of Admissions.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Interested applicants MUST meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Permanent Resident or a Convention Refugee or recognized Protected Person (as defined per article 95 of Immigration and Refugee Protection Act S.C. 2001, c. 27), or a Canadian Citizen or a Ukrainian National visiting Under the Emergency Travel measures for Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) with an open work permit and a 900-series SIN; or a Refugee Claimants with an open work permit for the duration of the program and a 900 series SIN;
  • Have a minimum of a recognized non-Canadian bachelor’s degree in business, IT or a related discipline;
  • Have related professional work experience outside Canada - 3+ years professional experience preferred;
  • Currently reside in Ontario and have lived in Canada for three years or less – no more than 5 years; and
  • Have a good command of the English language - proven by submitting a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Test result completed in the past 24 months. Candidates with CLB 8 in all areas in Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading are preferred. Candidates with a mix of 6-8 CLB scores can apply for consideration. Book a CLB test if you haven't already.
