PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Are you underemployed or unemployed? Ontario's new Better Jobs Ontario program may help you retrain for a new in-demand career.

Better Jobs Ontario has replaced Ontario's Second Career program, and now offers increased eligibility for the unemployed and underemployed as well as those on social assistance, gig workers, youth and newcomers to Ontario.

The Ministry of Labour, Trades and Skills Development (MLTSD) will grant each student up to a maximum of $28,000 to cover tuition, books, transportation and living expenses for up to one year. Students are also expected to make a financial contribution towards their training. Better Jobs Ontario focuses on training programs that take 52 weeks or less to complete, including micro-credentials - the objective being to have you return to the workforce as quickly as possible.
