PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
In collaboration with the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, Grade 11 and 12 students from four local high schools enrol into a first year undergraduate Philosophy or Sociology course. Students spend a term on York’s Keele campus taking both the introductory university course and earning their high school Co-op credit by completing co-op placements within a York University unit/department.
ACE students are supported, on campus by a secondary school teacher from their school and by spending their time on campus completing their co-op credit, studying with other undergraduate students, students gain familiarity with the campus environment. Upon completion of the their undergraduate course, students earn credits towards their university degree. Students also have the opportunity to take a course and complete a co-op placement at Seneca@York and earn advance credits towards their college diploma.
REGISTRATION DETAILS
Students are invited to participate through local high schools. Students from C.W. Jeffreys and James Cardinal McGuigan participate in the fall term. Students from Emery and Westview participate in the winter term.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 11 students from Emery Collegiate and Westview Centennial Secondary School.
- Grade 12 students from CW Jeffreys Secondary School and James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic Secondary School.
